About this tool
Pages are rendered with pdf.js and converted to grayscale images, then rebuilt as a PDF. This guarantees there is no color anywhere, which some print shops and court filing systems require. The text becomes part of the image and is no longer selectable.
Frequently asked questions
Will text stay sharp?
At 200 DPI or higher, text prints crisply. 150 DPI is fine for screen viewing.
Can I keep text selectable?
Not with this method. Print to grayscale from your PDF reader if you need selectable text.
Will the file get bigger?
For text-only PDFs, usually yes. For scanned color PDFs, it often gets smaller.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertBrightly processes files with JavaScript inside your browser. Nothing is sent over the network, and the files disappear when you close the tab. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
