About this tool

Painted areas are softened with a Gaussian blur or turned into large pixel blocks. For hiding sensitive details, pixelate at a high strength is the safest choice, because light blurs can sometimes be partly reversed. Edges of painted areas are slightly feathered so the result blends in. Zoom in for small details and use Undo/Redo as you go.

In a batch, the painted areas apply to the image you edited; choose Whole image to blur every file the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Can blurred text be recovered?

Strong pixelation or a heavy blur can’t practically be undone. Light blur on large text may still be readable, so use a high strength for sensitive information.

Can I blur faces automatically?

Yes, use Blur Faces, which finds faces for you.

Does it reduce quality elsewhere?

No. Only the areas you paint are changed.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. ConvertBrightly processes files with JavaScript inside your browser. Nothing is sent over the network, and the files disappear when you close the tab. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
