About ConvertBrightly
ConvertBrightly is a collection of 54 free tools and 50 format converters for everyday file jobs: shrinking photos for email, converting iPhone HEIC pictures, merging and signing PDFs, turning spreadsheets into CSV, and zipping files.
How it works
Every page is a static file. When you add a file, JavaScript running in your browser reads it, processes it and creates the result as a download. No file is ever sent to our servers, because we don’t have servers that process files. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab while you use a tool, or disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.
Open-source libraries we use
- pdf-lib (Cantoo fork, MIT): creating and editing PDFs, including AES-256 encryption.
- pdf.js by Mozilla (Apache-2.0): rendering pages and reading text.
- SheetJS Community Edition (Apache-2.0): reading and writing spreadsheets.
- fflate (MIT): ZIP and GZIP.
- heic2any (MIT, bundles libheif under LGPL-3.0): decoding HEIC photos.
- exifr (MIT): reading photo metadata.
- gifenc (MIT) and UTIF.js (MIT): GIF and TIFF files.
- Lucide icons (ISC).
Limits
Because work happens on your device, very large files are limited by your device’s memory. A few features have honest trade-offs that we explain on each tool page, for example compression that renders PDF pages as images.
